The Arts and Education District is a culturally and economically diverse neighborhood of the downtown area of Newark, NJ, that will highlight arts and educational institutions, galleries, downtown parks, restaurants, and major transportation hubs within the area.
MISSION
The mission of the Arts & Education District is to promote and celebrate arts and educational institutions and the downtown parks that contribute to Newark’s cultural vibrancy. The district will serve as a unified and structural approach to the organization of arts and cultural programming for residents and visitors to enjoy.
As we work together to build an educated, equitable and collaborative city, the long historical arts & cultural legacy will be preserved.
The Newark Arts District is about to fundamentally change Newark. Cultural Districts matter and have grown rapidly all around the world as their unique contribution to urban life has been more fully understood.
We here at the Newark Museum of Art believe the City of Newark can transcend convention and redefine the quintessential Newark experience by initiating a transformative new chapter for the City.
